The award was for sinter metal parts that are an integral element in the manufacture of car seats and GKN has made more than a billion of these parts in Bonn, Germany. Timothy Laughlin, RPPC Engineering Director, and Thomas Jeworrek, Key Account Manager, accepted the award during the Global Automotive Seating Supplier Awards and Expectations Day on September 30 in Plymouth, Maine, USA on GKN Sinter Metals‘ behalf. The award goes to suppliers who excel in key business areas like quality, logistics, technology and service. The outstanding performance is recognized on four levels – platinum, gold, silver and bronze.

Today JCI is one of the Top 10 customers of GKN Sinter Metals in Bonn. The plant also shared a long-term customer relationship with Keiper, which has become a subsidiary of JCI in 2011. GKN already received multiple awards from Johnson Controls and Keiper in the past:

– Keiper Supplier Award in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010
– JCI Silver Performance Award in 2011 and 2015

Since 2000, GKN Sinter Metals Bonn, Germany, has supplied seat specialist Keiper with metal components – called „wedges“ – that enable seats to recline. An amazing milestone was reached 2014 when the one billionth such part was produced at Bonn – all made with zero defects.

Matthias Voss, plant manager of the Bonn plant, states: „We are delighted to receive this award from our valued customer Johnson Controls. It validates all the hard work by our employees to produce quality products, and our commitment to our customers to be partners in creating innovative solutions.“
